Thesiger (1910-2003) was a British explorer and travel writer, born in Addis Ababa, Abyssinia (now Ethiopia). He was educated at Eton and Oxford, and later worked in the Sudan Political Service and also as a Political Officer for Haile Selassie (Ethiopian Emperor).
